Description

Through their collective, Urbane Dermatologie, Coco Bergholm and Jo Preußler from Berlin explore the unique surfaces of the Völklinger Hütte as a living archive. At the Urban Art Biennale 2026, they will present their own fashion collection based on ‘dermatological’ aspects of the Völklinger Hütte World Heritage Site. This is because the garments on display for fitting draw on the specific colour and form language of the Völklinger Hütte, such as the delicate textures of lichens and mosses or the rust-red and brown traces of oxidation on the industrial relics. The skirts, overalls and waistcoats, which resemble post-industrial skins, can be combined with a range of shirts, trousers and accessories to engage with the industrial monument. Visitors are invited to dress up in #huettecouture and then explore the World Heritage Site – between the blast furnaces and ‘Paradise’ – to find places where they can blend into the backdrop. Wrapped in ‘post-industrial chic’, it is now possible to disappear amongst the moss and rust, lilac and patina, iron railings and climbing vines. Participation is expressly encouraged here!
